Comcast Corporation: Cathy Avgiris, a 21-year company veteran, was promoted to CFO at Comcast Cable, effective July 1, succeeding the retiring Dave Scott. In her current role as executive vice president and general manager/Communications and Data Services, Avgiris leads Comcast’s XFINITY Internet, XFINITY Voice and the consumer wireless business. She also launched the Verizon Wireless partnership, managing the company’s Internet Essentials program that provides low-cost Internet service to low-income families and overseeing Comcast’s Wi-Fi initiative.
Intel Corporation: COO Brian Krzanich was elected CEO, succeeding Paul Otellini on May 16 when he steps down from the company and the board. In addition, Renée James was elected president and will take office on May 16 as well. Krzanich has led more than 50,000 employees spanning Intel’s Technology and Manufacturing Group, Intel Custom Foundry, NAND Solutions group, Human Resources, Information Technology and Intel’s China strategy. James brings to the table hardware, security, and software and services knowledge, developed through leadership positions at Intel and as chairman of Intel’s software subsidiaries: Havok, McAfee and Wind River. James also served as chief of staff for former Intel CEO Andy Grove.
