SVP, NE&TO Security
Comcast Cable
Keeping Comcast’s infrastructure, tools and employees protected is a business priority of Soto’s, especially in light of a multitude of threats poised against multinational companies. Some of her most recent accomplishments include consolidating disparate security functions into a centralized strategic organization, helping Comcast make advances in protecting its networks and building its corporate-wide information protection program.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Just about everything… I love the fact that in the world of security nothing is constant. The threat landscape is consistently evolving, and the way to be successful in this space is to be as in front of it as you can. I also love the fact that our Industry is reinventing itself.
How do you define success in the workplace?
Influence, execution and results. In my mind the most important measure of success is how much you can influence without direct authority or control, how well you and your respective teams execute against objectives and ultimately the business results associated.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
This is a tough one, but I do believe there is a direct benefit from drawing some boundaries to ensure you carve out time to recharge your mind and soul. My best trick is making sure I take time off to recharge on a periodic basis. I also try to bake in time at the end of the day for reflection of my business day and shifting to my personal space.
