Qualcomm Atheros Inc., a Qualcomm subsidiary, now is offering or sampling the QCA871x series of high-port-count Gigabit Ethernet switch solutions featuring what it says is the industry’s first unified wired and wireless switch functionality for small- and medium-business (SMB) customers along with the QCA851x series, consisting of high-port-count wired solutions. With the QCA871x series, Qualcomm Atheros is the first company to integrate wireless controller functions into the switch silicon, enabling the solution to process and forward both wired Ethernet 802.3 and Wi-Fi 802.11 packets simultaneously at wire speed. Furthermore, the complete Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points Protocol (CAPWAP) support in the QCA871x allows remote access point control and management to enhance network performance and lower maintenance costs. The QCA871x also eliminates the need for an external multi-core CPU commonly employed in traditional Wi-Fi Access Controller architectures, replacing it with an integrated, high-performance CPU…The CONVERGESolv Secure Networking group at Synnex Corporation created a turnkey wireless-solutions-services program for mid-market and mid-level enterprises using such Aruba Networks products as Aruba Instant, Aruba AirWave and the S2500/S3500 Mobility Access Switches. The program, Synnex Networking Aruba Program, provides services to resellers in pre-sales support, marketing assistance, hardware procurement and professional services that include wireless site surveys and installations nationwide for their mid-market customers. The program requires no authorization process, and program members receive back-end rebates on these products as they achieve various sales milestones, Synnex adds…The IxNetwork 7.0, an advanced solution from Ixia for validating network infrastructure, capacity, scalability and convergence, reportedly can create real-world protocols and network behavior, “making it possible for service providers, enterprises and equipment manufacturers to conduct detailed network performance analysis and get actionable insights to quickly optimize network devices, systems, applications and services,” the company says. IxNetwork 7.0 features an intuitive user interface for network topology testing, providing customers with new visual-configuration elements; built-in support for multi-protocols; the ability to control topology, device range and session-level granularities; and statistics per device and session level.
