Why Them? Yeah, we’ll play along. Since Vince may or may not be “dead,” out of respect we’re honoring the rest of the family McMahon this year. While not quite up to Andy Kaufman standards, Mr. McMahon’s televised limo explosion this summer ranks among the most interesting faked deaths we can recall. No surprise, really, that the hijinks came from the family that consistently ups the ante on sensational entertainment and delivers big ratings to cable—not to mention cross-platform knockouts in the DVD and console games industries. Vince and Linda deserve credit for keeping the WWE machine largely a family affair, and this year for dealing handily with the very real death of Chris Benoit, which sparked the suspension of 10 wrestlers for violating WWE’s “wellness policy” (never knew there was such a thing). What’s next for the McMahons? With Nielsen ratings for WWE Raw down this fall, we’re excited to see what stunt Vince may pull next.  CAO
