In addition to serving as an advisor to History’s programming department, O’Connell produces educational and community-based initiatives for AETN, such as the Take A Veteran to School program on History, in which students invite veterans to share their stories of service. So how did A&E Network’s chief historian get her start? She applied for a short consulting position at a new network in 1993, thinking it would be fun to try something new. Fast forward to today. “Cable is at the forefront of innovation offering new and exciting challenges and opportunities that keep me on my toes every day,” she says. “There is never a dull moment, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
