Some believe media is literally in their blood. Holloway wasn’t sure, even though his dad, Doug Holloway, is a Cable OG, having developed USA’s affiliate relations team and served as President of NBC Universal’s cable investments. “I was never able to grasp the extent of all his accomplishments as a child, but as I began to study and work in media it became abundantly clear to me how successful he had been, and that I can make a place for myself in this field as well,” said Holloway, who got his industry start through an Emma Bowen Foundation internship. He spent two summers at Hallmark Media’s ad sales department, with the company offering him an assistant position after graduation. He’s since rose steadily up the ranks, growing business, training and mentoring sales planners and sales assistants and acting as liaison for the sales team in key areas. Holloway is an active member of Hallmark Media’s Employee Resource Council and frequently volunteers to deliver companywide presentations and various ERC initiatives related to DEI. “Unfortunately, you don’t see many people who look like me in the television ad sales industry, but working with the Emma Bowen Foundation really opened my eyes to the breadth of diversity coming into the media landscape and gave me a really positive outlook on the future of media,” he says.
